Important Client Announcement: myGovID to replace AUSkey

Come April 1, 2020, you will no longer be able to use AUSkey to access the ATO’s Business Portal

Time to change to MyGovID

Will this change affect your business?

If your business is currently utilising the ATO’s Business Portal, you will soon need to change the way in which you access this portal.

Previously, AUSkey has been used to enable access to the ATO’s Business Portal. Come April 1, 2020 AUSkey will be replaced by myGovID.

What is myGovID?

myGovID is a new 2 factor authentication and sign-in process to access government services including the ATO Business Portal, which requires the use of the myGovID App. You will need to download the App on your smart device.

Download myGovID on the App Store

Download myGovID on Google Play

Please be aware that myGovID is NOT your existing myGov login, which is used to access Medicare, Centrelink and other various personal tax affairs.

Linking myGovID to your ABN

Before you can use your myGovID, it is critical to link your myGovID to your Australian Business Number (ABN) in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), which will be replacing Manage ABN Connections from April 1, 2020. RAM is a new authorisation service, linking your ABN to your myGovID and enables you to manage business relationships and authorisations across government online services.

To link your ABN to your myGovID in RAM, you must be the principal authority (director) of the operating entity. Once linked in RAM, you can authorise employees and others to act on behalf of your business. To find out more information about RAM and how to enable your business’ access to the ATO Business Portal click here.

After linking RAM you will be able to access other select government services using your myGovID. To view the entire list of participating government services, please click here.

Why is this change occurring?

Replacement of AUSkey with myGovID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) will enable a secure, straightforward and adaptable platform to access government online services, using your smart device for 2 factor authentication.

Similar to the STP rollout that we saw in July 2019, the government is continuing to implement changes to our processes and use of their platforms to enable a more simple and secure user experience.
