Demonstrating how employee initiatives enrich the understanding and importance of wellness among Australia’s accounting industry was key to being acknowledged in this award category.

Allan Hall has been actively advocating health and wellness initiatives, events and activities within the business and wider community for many years, recognising that the key to success is not only supporting clients but also the people within.

This made the award win a very special one as it provides industry recognition of the emphasis the firm places on its employees and their wellbeing.

Accepting the award, Allan Hall HR Director, Janelle Parish said, “To win this particular award would be special at any time but we are extremely proud to have won it this year, to be recognised nationally for our support of staff with our wellness initiatives over such a challenging period.”

“Our firm has a fabulous, collaborative culture with Directors and Managers who are all very supportive of employee wellbeing and any wellness initiatives put forward.”

“Promoting health and wellbeing has been an essential aspect of our HR management through our ‘Thrive’ wellbeing program which follows four pillars of mind, body, spirit and work culture. Our Thrive wellbeing committee was able to adjust our approach over the past 12 months to the challenging COVID-19 climate to ensure our employees’ physical and mental wellbeing remained a major focus.”

The Australian Accounting Awards are known as the benchmark for excellence nationally as they focus on professional development and innovation, and recognise the successes of accountants, bookkeepers, partners, superannuation specialists, thought leaders, executives, as well as rising stars of tomorrow.

In his opening address, Accountants Daily editor Philip King said the Australian Accountants Awards offer a moment to pause and honour the best of the best in the profession. View the full list of winners here »

Over $10k Raised by Our Team for SurfAid

Allan Hall and Big Hill Beach Cottages placed third at the 2021 Beecraft SurfAid Cup

It was not a great beach day but we still had a fantastic time competing for the 7th year in a row at the annual Beecraft SurfAid Cup, held at Manly Beach last Friday 26 November, raising vital funds for SurfAid’s Mother and Child Health Programmes.

This year, Allan Hall again joined forces with Big Hill Beach Cottages and our formidable combined line-up placed third in a hotly contested surfing final.

The team consisted of Greg Anderson and Jake Somerville surfing for Allan Hall, Rob Bain surfing for Big Hill Beach Cottages plus long-time associate of Allan Hall, Ben Hamilton.

Through our outstanding fundraising, we were able to pick well known professional surfer Matt Wilkinson who was volunteering his expertise in honour of the event and certainly added to our team’s success.

The day is certainly about surfing to raise awareness, and we are extremely proud of our fundraising efforts this year, for which our team raised $10,200 for SurfAid’s Mother & Child Health Programmes thanks to our clients and friends.

Overall fundraising efforts from all teams involved in the 2021 SurfAid Cup came to an incredible total of $146,235. We would like to thank everyone involved in this year’s competition, and we would especially like to thank those who donated to our team and supported us on the day!

Alan Hall named AFR Top 100 Accounting Firm

AFR Top 100 Australian Accounting Firms 2021

Allan Hall stands tall as a Top 50 Australian accounting firms

The Australian Financial Review again recognised Allan Hall Business Advisors as one of Australia’s Top 100 accounting firms.

We are very pleased to announce that our firm stands strong with a Top 50 rank in this year’s Top 100 Accounting Firms table.

Executing and sustaining a growth strategy in a marketplace of tough nationwide competitors are among the great challenges, and successes, of many firms in the Australian accounting industry.

Events around the pandemic proved that going the extra mile is more important than ever to clients and the community as we continue to navigate the uncertainties of an unprecedented health crisis.

Australian Financial Review data shows, for another year, just how much the business community – especially smaller companies – rely on their accountants during tough times.

Allan Hall Director Scott Jago said 2020 was about steadying the ship and doing a good job with no one overboard.

“For us, it was about improving our delivery and refining our approach.”

“Success to Allan Hall means achieving our goals whilst having fun along the way,” says Scott. “Consciously doing things that make a difference to our clients and our staff’s experience, and joining the dots on all the little things each and every day.”

“We would like to congratulate our team on this achievement, which is a testament to the value they provide to our clients and our whole business,” he added.

Allan Hall Business Advisors was also named AccountantsDaily Australian Firm of the Year for 2021.

Allan Hall’s Return to Brookvale Office

Allan Hall’s return to the office plans and extended Christmas closure

Like all businesses, we have been navigating the changing government rules, and have excitedly been planning our return to working back in our Allan Hall offices at Brookvale.

We, therefore, wish to advise that we will be officially returning to the office on 1 December 2021 once the rules in NSW have relaxed and we are very much looking forward to being together.

While some of our team will be starting to return to the office between now and the end of November, the majority of our employees will be continuing to work from home if reasonably practical, as per the government guidelines.

Until December, we are happy to continue to conduct virtual meetings with clients. We can also arrange to meet with clients in our offices if required and with notice. We also do have some staff in each day to ensure any documents being dropped in are received and processed.

It is important to note however that all staff and visitors spending any time in our offices are required to follow the mandatory requirements set by the government regarding COVID safe check in/out and proof of vaccination.

As it has been a challenging year for all, we also wanted to give you early notice that we have decided to have an extended Christmas break this year. We will therefore be shutting our office from lunchtime on Thursday 23 December and will not be back at work until Monday 17 January 2022.

Should you have any deadlines during that time that you know will require our assistance, can you please let us know as soon as possible so we can organise to get these done for you before the break.

Australian Accounting Awards 2021

Allan Hall Business Advisors has been named finalists in the Australian Accounting Awards in four national categories: Firm of the Year, Multiservice Firm of the Year, Wellness Program/Initiative of the Year and Network of the Year (Alliott Global Alliance).

The finalist list, announced on 11 May 2021, features over 300 high-achieving accounting professionals across 36 submission-based categories.

The Firm of the Year award recognises the firm in the accounting industry with less than $1 billion in total revenue that most effectively drove business growth during 2020, utilising a range of business development principles and tactics.

The Multiservice award recognises the Australian accounting firm that most effectively diversified its service offering in 2020. Specifically, the award recognises firms offering services complementary to accounting, such as risk advice, mortgage and finance broking, financial planning, SMSF advice and legal services.

The Wellness award recognises an Australian accounting firm that has actively advocated health and wellness initiatives, events and/or activities among their peers and the community at large.

Finally, the Network award recognises the accounting network that gives opportunities to its member firms and is focused on enabling quality client services. Judges looks at the resources, services and support systems the accounting network provides its associated firms.

Allan Hall Partner Scott Jago said, “Accounting professionals have been at the forefront of the economic crisis since the start of the pandemic and each has risen to the challenge to support our clients and the broader community.”

“We worked together over this period and despite the challenging and ever-changing conditions of the pandemic, we responded with positivity.”

“We couldn’t have achieved any of this without the dedication of the Allan Hall team, and the trust our clients put in us to help them to endure COVID19.”

Jotham Lian, Editor at AccountantsDaily, added, “The 2021 awards shine a light on the professionals and firms who led the accounting industry during a time of unprecedented change through the past year of constant obstacles and challenges.”

The Australian Accounting Awards recognises and acknowledges the achievements of individuals and firms whether they are in the profession’s most senior ranks or if they’re a rising star within the industry and rewards them with a prestigious and highly sought-after accolade and national exposure for their contributions. Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Sydney on 18 June 2021.
