Unsure about the Latest COVID-19 Support Packages and How they Apply to Your Business?

Support packages

As per our email late Monday, the Federal Government’s JobKeeper payment offers welcome relief for many businesses who have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the Fair Work Commission has issued a Statement this week outlining its intention to temporarily update over 100 awards to provide Pandemic Leave and flexibility to take Annual Leave at half pay.

The NSW Government has also announced a grant of up to $10,000 to eligible small businesses today, which followed a similar announcement by the Victorian Government earlier this week.

We have been flooded with calls from clients this week who are working through all these latest measures and how they apply to their specific business and employee circumstances.

There are a number of stimulus measures that are yet to be clarified by the Government and they are updating their fact sheets daily with new guidelines for both businesses and individuals. What may have been suggested yesterday may have changed today.

The most important thing that a business owner can do is to obtain guidance on these matters from a trusted source that is up-to-date with the latest information.

We have included some easy links to government reference sources below.

In addition, our partners and specialist HR advisors will be running a free webinar on the JobKeeper payment next week to answer your questions. We will provide you with further information on this shortly.

In the meantime, if you believe you are eligible for this payment, all you need to do now is register your intention to apply for the JobKeeper payment on the ATO website by clicking here.
